just call me jillian michaels

So if you’re new around these parts, let me bring you up to speed. I’m a huge Jillian Michaels fan, I love fitness, I love eating healthy, and my family and friends are the most important things in my life.

If I could have one wish, it would probably to have a job like her. She has inspired so many people to get healthy. When my sister first stared losing weight about 5 years ago, she bought a Jillian Michaels book and listened to her on the radio. I really didn’t think much of it. I actually had to ask, Who’s Jillian Michaels? I know, I can’t believe it. But then I grew up, got into healthy living and fitness, and knew exactly who Jillian Michael was.

As I mentioned the other day, I am training a couple of my friends and my sister to help them get healthy and in shape. I wasn’t sure how it was going to go at first, but I love it!

The workouts look a bit like this:

  • Speed work on the track
  • Hills/Stairs
  • Weight lifting
  • Tabata
  • Circuit training
  • Insanity
  • At least one rest day

And the nutrition aspect:

  • Protein, protein, protein!
  • Don’t eat low-fat or non-fat foods
  • Go for whole foods as much as possible
  • Whole grains
  • Always eat breakfast

It’s a pretty basic nutrition plan but basic is sometimes best. Over this past year and a half in recovery, I have learned so much about health. I used to think I ate healthy during my ED but the truth is, I wasn’t. Now I know how healthy fats, proteins, and carbs are for your body! It’s been fun sharing that with people and breaking down the myth that fat is bad for you.

It’s only just begun but I have really been enjoying helping my friends! It makes me think that maybe I want to do this as a career one day…

Are you a Jillian Michaels fan?
Any tips for training my friends?

  1. I LOVE JILLIAN MICHAELS. My dream is to train with her for just one day; that’s all I want. I like to think I’m in good shape, but I feel like she would totally kick my butt :p

  2. I have seriously considered becoming a personal trainer and I honestly think that it is something I am going to look into. It brings so much joy to my heart when I inspire people to get healthy, especially those that are overweight/obese because I care about them and I want them to be around for a long time! And my friends, too, even though they’re still pretty healthy. It’s just exciting!
Be crazy supportive! People respond to lots and lots of positive energy.

  3. Isn’t it funny how that works? You end up doing something by accident or by chance and then falling in love with it. Making others happy gives me so much joy, especially when it involves food, health, or fitness! I don’t know exactly what I’ll end up doing “in the real world,” but I can only hope that it combines those passions. Hopefully, you’ll find/have found the same thing as well 🙂

  4. Jillian Michaels scares me, but she’s awesome. I did her boost metabolism workout the other day and died, you definitely should try it! You should look into becoming an instructor, I LOVE teaching at the gym! Plus all my coworkers are so healthy, we share interests!

  5. Jillian Michaels is HOT. forreal. And although I’m not really a fan of like…”get-in-shape” type workouts (for me anyways cuz my training does all that for me), I really wish she would come and scream at me while I’m swimming or lifting haha. And I’m soooo happy for you that you’re training your friends!! Seriously isn’t it so fun?? Especially when they start doing all the things you tell them and are like, “oh my gosh, I feel better than ever!” lol, I’m also training my best friend, she’s running her first 10k in about 3 weeks so I’ve coached her for that and I’m also being her “nutritional coach” cuz she wants to lose some weight, and its SO fun. and just SO rewarding!!!

  6. Jillian rocks! Wouldn’t it be awesome to work out with her one day?! I have a feeling it’d be super hardcore but super cool!
I think it is SO fabulous you’re doing this for your friends, I’m sure they’re gonna benefit so much 🙂

  7. I really admire Jillian Michaels for getting in shape after being overweight as a teenager. Also I like how she has a real curvy body – she’s a good role model! However one of her books talks about slow v. fast oxidizers and appropriate foods for each, which I don’t really agree with. I don’t think there’s much science behind it. 😛

I know I already said this, but that’s so awesome that you’re training your friends! I think that would be so much fun!

  8. I actually don’t really know much about her, I hated the show Biggest Loser but really respected her when I heard she left it. I think she is a role model that is so realistic, I recently read an interview with her and loved her outlook on everything. It was all about moderation which is something a lot of those fitness people don’t preach. You would be a great next Jillian! You motivate me and we are miles away!

  9. I am not sure of my position on Jillian, but I do love that you’re introducing your friends/sister to a way of HEALTHY LIVING, not just dieting! I wish I had had someone like you to lead me down that path, because it would’ve prevented a lot of issues. I also LOVE that you say no non-fat foods/low-fat foods, because I think that the avoidance of fat becomes OBSESSIVE and STUPID. Great job girl!

  14. I am a DEFINITE Jillian Michaels fan! I haven’t been able to do many of her workouts lately because of my knee, but I can’t wait to start working out with her again! I miss her killing me every morning. 😉
