My Spin Workouts + Recent Eats

Happy Friday everybody! I love Fridays….

Yesterday, I had a greatttt spin workout. I do my spin workouts on my own, not in a class. The reason for this is because I really don’t feel like paying for something that I could easily do by myself. Plus, I could use that extra money elsewhere, such as marathons or triathlons ๐Ÿ™‚

no thanks...i'll do my spin class solo (and hello to the man looking straight at the camera)

What I do is make a playlist of about 1 hour long of songs. I choose my songs with a fast chorus/part. Here is a list of the songs currently on my spinning playlist:

Moves Like Jagger by: Maroon 5

All I Do Is Win by: DJ Khaled

Back Around by: Demi Lovato

Check Yes Juliet by: We the Kings

Control by: Metro Station

Dirt Road Anthem by: Jason Aldean

The Edge of Glory by: Lady Gaga

Fly With Me by: Jonas Brothers (yes…i still listen to Jonas Brothers)

Get Back by: Demi Lovato

Here It Goes Again by: Ok Go

I Do Not Hook Up by: Kelly Clarkson

I’m Only Me When I’m With You by: Taylor Swift

The Middle by: Demi Lovato

Must Have Done Something Right by: Relient K

Set Fire to the Rain by: ADELE

Should’ve Said No by: Taylor Swift

Stereo Hearts by: Gym Class Hero

We Found Love by: Rihanna

Sleep All Day, Party All Night by: Sean Kingston

So once you have your 1 hour of songs, you basically just head on over to the spin room and do whatever feels right when the song comes on. For example, in the Moves Like Jagger, I would spin, sitting down at gear 10ish. Then once the chorus comes, I kick up the gear to 15 and stand, like I’m biking up a hill.

When the fast part of the song comes on, you can climb, sit, kick up the gear, go super fast. Basically whatever you want and whatever feels right. The best part about this workout is the way you are able to push yourself. It has worked for me and I end up in a total sweat (so bring a towel!).

If you guys want an actual, set-up workout, then check out Matt’s spin workout from the Athlete’s Plate. I haven’t tried it out yet but this guy knows how to work it out!

Then once you do that spin workout, you eat! But before we get to the food, I have some very exciting news…

my new love

My Garmin Forerunner 305 came in the mail yesterday!!! %#%#&*!&*!*&#*(&#)!!!! It’s amazing guys. If you like running, then I totally suggest investing in one of these. I took mine out for it’s first run and completed 11.19 miles. That’s a new PDR (while running by myself). The half was a PDR but that’s different when running in a race. You know what I mean? Okay good ๐Ÿ˜‰

Now…onto the food!

it was mexican at the caf so i had a salad with shredded carrots, kidney beans, mushrooms, cucumbers, salsa, guacamole, a squeeze of lime, and some chicken with bbq sauce

raw oats, blueberry chobani, greek yogurt, a splash of almond milk, ground flax seeds, and chia seeds with an orange on the side. doesn't look appetizing. but trust was

coffee, skim milk, almond milk, and stevia. some like to add milk to their coffee. i like to add coffee to my milk

Apparently yesterday was National Coffee day. I decided to celebrate today instead. Better late than never, right?

anybody else love the instagram app?

Have a great Friday everybody! Be safe and have fun ๐Ÿ™‚

UliMana Truffles Review + how to take full advantage of the school dining hall

I recently received some truffles from a great company based out of North Carolina: UliMana. They specialize in organic, raw, vegan truffles, and cocoa spreads. Their packages also say they are dairy free, gluten free, and agave sweetened. The company was gracious enough to send me 4 kinds of their truffles: coconut, coconut nectar, peppermint, and goji cherry.

First up: Coconut Truffles

ingredients: organic cocoa powder, organic cocoa butter, organic agave, organic coconut, organic vanilla beans, and celtic sea salt

Let’s be honest here. I love coconut. It’s no lie that I could eat it in my oatmeal, on my fro yo, in my cookie, etc. So when I saw what the flavor was, I jumped right into the pack. The outer layer of coconut flakes was the perfect balance for the chocolate. The chocolate is so rich and creamy! Like seriously….if you want to turn your family/friends into health freak, then this is the treat to give them.

Next: Coconut Nectar Truffles

ingredients: organic cocoa powder, organic cocoa powder, coconut nectar, organic vanilla beans, and celtic sea salt

The difference between these truffles and the Coconut ones is that this one contains coconut nectar. That adds an extra punch of coconut in the middle. I had never had coconut nectar before but I now want to try it in more things. The flavor of coconut was not too overwhelming. Basically just the right amount once again.

And now: Peppermintingredients: organic cocoa powder, organic cocoa butter, organic agave, organic vanilla beans, celtic sea salt, and peppermint essential oil

Oh. My. Truffle. This stuff is no joke. Just imagine a health freak’s version of a New York Peppermint Patty. That’s right folks. These were uhhhmazing. I got a hit of the peppermint right off the bat and then there was the smoothness from the chocolate. Yeah…I’m in love.

Lastly: Goji Cherry

ingredients: organic cocoa powder, organic cocoa butter, organic agave, organic bing cherries, organic goji berries, organic cocoa nibs, organic vanilla beans, and celtic sea salt

This was my first experience with goji berries and I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. Well you guys…I loved them! There was a nice balance between the fruitiness and chocolateness. There was also a nice crunch with the cocoa nibs in there. I will be using goji berries more often now ๐Ÿ™‚

My thoughts? So so soooo good! The chocolate in every single truffle flavor was so creamy and decadent. My favorite would have to be the peppermint but the goji cherry came into close second. If you guys want to learn more about this product, order some online, or just drool over the pictures, then head on over to UliMana’s website. I just want to say thank you so much to UliMana for sending me the samples! I loved each and every one ๐Ÿ™‚

Note: UliMana sent me these samples to review. They did not pay me to say any of this. Each and every piece of opinion is solely mine.

i hope everyone has a great rest of the day!

costco trip and how to become coupon savvy

happy saturday everybody! the weather here is nothern california is turning into my favorite. i’m sure you’re all thinking sunshine. well nope! cloudy! i love love loveee cloudy weather. there’s just something about it that makes me feel so at ease and comfortable. there’s nothing better than snuggling up on the couch, watching tv, and drinking some tea ๐Ÿ™‚ plus this means that i can run at any time of the day! i don’t have to wake up super early or wait super late because now it is cool all day. they’re even predicting rain for tomorrow! eeeep!

enough about the weather. today i went to costco with the roomies. they needed to pick up the usual college stuff (cup of noodles, chips, popcorn, etc). i, on the other hand, picked up some great stuff (for those of you in the bay area, i am SO jealous of your costcos! they sell so many local, organic products)

frozen organic berries and fresh blueberries

organic pre-cooked chicken

organic individual hummus packets

chobani yogurt in peach, strawberry, and blueberry flavors

almond butter

crispy brown rice cereal

there you have it folks! a health freak’s costco trip ๐Ÿ™‚

by the way…notice anything missing?? that’s right! almond milk! i only bought one carton yesterday at whole foods to hold me over until today but costco wasn’t carrying it ๐Ÿ˜ฆ booooo

i got a few questions yesterday about couponing so i figured it would be a good time to share my secrets ๐Ÿ˜‰ (click on the pic to go to the site)

i get a lot of my coupons from the whole foods websites/the monthly book they have in stores

of course, the whole foods ones are only allowed to be used at whole foods. that’s why i have other sites i like to go to in order to be able to use coupons at other stores i shop at

healthy life deals sends out daily emails with great coupons that can be found

organic deals is very similar to the one above because they also send out daily emails

mambo sprouts sends out periodic emails with their coupons. they also have a monthly booklet full of coupons that can be found at some health food store

all these sites have been lifesavers to my wallet and have helped me continue to eat the foods my body deserves

there are also many companies that have coupons when you sign up to get their emails. a few of them include:

Udi’s Gluten Free

Pure Bars

i really hope this helped you guys! i want everybody to realize that healthy food does not have to be expensive. you can still do it without breaking the bank!

i hope you all have a beautiful rest of the weekend! i know i will with this weather ๐Ÿ˜‰

Question: What’s your favorite weather?

Any good couponing tips?
