did i really just eat that?

Another week has come and gone! That means it’s time for yet another WIAW :)

Breakfast
I planned on going to the gym early with my sister but when I was laying in bed and didn’t hear her wake up, I decided to just lay my head back on my pillow. Good decision for sure.

Kale bagel with a drippy egg, an orange, and greek yogurt with strawberries and blueberries

 Lunch
I had work today so lunch was eaten there. I had time to eat an actual meal so I took this time to enjoy some of the oh so delicious food I drool over all day.

Kale salad with cabbage, apples, almonds, avocado, currants, maple orange dressing, and tahini

This is definitely one of my all time favorite dishes that we serve. My goal is to recreate it. But that maple orange dressing is just so dang good!

Snack

Boogie Bar

This is called a Boogie Bar at work but it’s basically banana bread with almonds, coconut, and chocolate chips. Again, one of my favorites.

I worked out with my friend and took an Athletic Training class like last week followed by some bicep/back work. I wasn’t sure what she was going to think of the class, but as it turned out, she loved it! She thought the instructor was amazing as well and loved how challenging it was. It’s a go back fo sho!

Dinner

Roll before dinner

I was really hungry by the time dinner rolled around so I did something I never thought I would do. I ate a roll. A roll with white bread. But the night didn’t end there…

Veggie sandwich on wheat with no mayo or cheese and chips

That’s right…chips. And I ate them. They make these fresh at the restaurant so I figured if I were to eat a potato chip, it would be better to eat homemade ones. When the plate was sat in front of me, I grabbed a chip, turned to my mom, and slipped it into my mouth, with a smile on my face. She said, “No way!” I could see how happy she was that I was letting loose and, to be honest, they tasted pretty darn good. I shared a few but besides that, I ate them all. All by myself :)

To be honest, I don’t really regret eating them or the roll. I’ve loosened up so much on my eating that it felt nice not to order a salad without the dressing. The salad section was actually the last part I looked at. I left the restaurant with a smile on my face for the progress I have made. I was able to enjoy the company and not think about the chips I just ate. I just…lived.

  3. I know I say this every time. but it so odd seeing foods I didn’t eat on my dinnerware. okay sorry I won’t mention it again ;) (lies)
    also I totally need to make kale bagels. Does it get better?
    OMG! I literally just said that- I know JUST how it feels to let go. It is petrifying thinking about it, but then once you do it you’re like BAM I FEEL GOOD! I’m soooo proud of you because you’re right, you can do it all and if you’re going to eat a chip, make it a good one. I love how you popped it into your mouth for yyour mom- I’d have done the exact same thing :D
    Lately I haven’t been challenging myself much. I sort of had a sandwich yesterday but actually had no peanut butter so couldn’t really challenge that aspect.
    banana bread…..yay if it isn’t too sweet. I’m still not sure if I like bananas.

  4. YESSS!!!!! Chips and a roll in the same day!! that is SO awesome. seriously way to rock it :-D It definitely feels much less stressful to just loosen up with the eats every once in awhile! and omg, all this food looks insanely delicious. especially that Boogie bar thing. and the kale bagel!

  6. That is so great! I’ve never actually liked potato chips so it’s not hard to avoid them. Except for panera’s which are baking in sunflower oil and delicious. Good for you for loosening up on your eating! By the way, I nominated you for an award over at my blog. ;)

  7. WOOOOT this is what self exploration is all about. Sometimes it takes leaving those comfort zones physically as well as mentally to strike that happy place. All of those things look delicious, just delicious. This post seriously makes me so freaking happy.

  8. good for your for indulging! I think its important to find a happy balance..it is definitely something I still struggle with but I always tell myself to never regret any indulgence I make and to just accept it!

  10. i challenged myself alll weekend with food, with pesto and fries and ice cream and birthday cake. not eating, but in a way rewarding! it’s nice to know that you can survive things that are scary, when in reality it’s just food and shouldn’t have any power at all! your eats all look so delicious! especially the banana bread!! i’m so gonna have to try adding all those things the next time i make a loaf!

  11. I love banana bread! I will only eat the healthy version I bake though. Good for you that you were able to let loose! I have been trying to do the same thing. It feels nice to not analyze every nutrition fact every now and then.

  13. Looks like a very kale filled day! I STILL haven’t tried it…what is wrong with me?! My fiance and I are planning on making kale chips this weekend, and I am beyond excited to finally try it!

  15. That’s so great that you challenged yourself and had no regrets! I recently decided to buy one of those big vegan chocolate chip cookies from Whole Foods and I actually really loved it! I know they’re healthier than regular cookies but it still felt nice to be able to enjoy a real cookie after such a long time without them.

    The kale salad you had for lunch looks amazing! Kale is definitely my favorite base for salads.

  18. Congrats on making strides to less restrictive eating! I’m *trying* to do the same, actually. Like you, I also have a very supportive mum to help me along. Lately, I’ve been trying to listen to my body when it’s hungry…I did that yesterday by eating an unplanned slice of…banana bread *ironically enough!*

    So as for question two…a big “yay” for banana bread!
